Bengaluru: The BDFA Super Division league began with a riot of goals at the football stadium on Tuesday as defending champions FC Bengaluru United routed Jawahar Union FC 17-0 here.
Winger Chesterpoul Lyngdoh led FCBU's charge netting four goals as the champions served notice on other title contenders. Nongbri and Aenam also excelled, netting three goals each as FCBU registered one of the biggest wins in the history of the tournament. FCBU, who led 7-0 at half-time, were even more clinical in the second session as they added 10 more to their tally.
In the other matches, BUFC blanked Bangalore Eagles FC 2-0 while debutants Roots FC shocked former champions MEG & Centre 1-0. Patrick Mon Couer Libii struck in the 65th minute while Jeevith KN scored the other goal for BUFC seven minutes later. Amogh G scored the match-winner in the 29th minute for Roots.
