BENGALURU: Lucky Ali, as singer-actor Maqsood Mahmood Ali is better known, has approached DG&IGP Praveen Sood through a series of tweets, accusing a few individuals of encroaching a part of his 3-acre ancestral land at Kenchenahalli, Yelahanka, and an IAS officer of backing the encroachers.

Ali, who said he is currently in Dubai for work, sought police protection for his family members, including children, living on the land.

IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri, her husband Sudhir Reddy and his brother Madhusoodhan Reddy have been named by Ali in his tweets.

Reacting to the tweets, Sindhuri said: "I am shocked and aghast at the false and baseless allegations by Lucky Ali. I am being unduly dragged for ulterior motives in a matter I have no role in whatsoever. I understand there is temporary injunction against Lucky Ali. Matter remains sub judice. While I respect Ali's artistic abilities, I feel this was completely unwarranted when the courts are seized of the matter. It has been done with an intention to malign and cause disrepute to me and gain public sympathy."

Madhusoodhan Reddy too denied the allegations.

Ali's tweets read: "Dear Sir, My name is Lucky Ali. Son of Actor and Comedian Mehmood Ali. I am currently in Dubai for work, hence the urgency. My farm which is a Trust Property in Kenchenahalli Yelahanka is being encroached on illegally by Sudhir Reddy (and Madhu Reddy) from the Bangalore Land Mafia. With the help of his wife who is an IAS Officer by the name of Rohini Sindhuri, they are misusing state resources for their personal gain. They are... refusing to show relevant documents (sic),"

Claiming he and his family are in possession of the said land and have been living there for the past 50 years, Ali said his efforts to meet Sood before leaving for Dubai went in vain as the top cop was unavailable.

"We filed a complaint with the ACP. I haven't had any positive response as of yet. My family and small children are alone on the farm. I am getting no help from the local police, who are supporting the encroachers and indifferent to our situation and the legal status of this land. Dear Sir I need your help to stop this illegal activity of them trying to prove a false possession before the final court hearing on December 7 (sic)," Ali's tweets read.

Addressing mediapersons, Madhusoodhan Reddy, brother of Sudhir Reddy who is married to IAS officer Sindhuri, said the disputed land was purchased by his father Narayana Reddy from Lucky Ali's brother Mansoor Ali in 2012.

"As Ali started troubling us over the land purchase, we approached a local court which issued an injunction in our favour in 2016. A few months ago, my father passed away. Recently, my mother wished to visit the property and when we went there, trouble started. I have filed a complaint against Ali with Yelahanka New Town police," he said.

Home minister Araga Jnanendra said: "Ali has accused local police of non-cooperation. I will discuss the matter with the DG&IGP."
