BENGALURU: Police on Thursday issued a lookout notice against Kannada cine actress Abhinaya U of 'Anubhava' fame, her mother as well as her brother after the trio went missing following the issuance of an arrest warrant from a local court last month.
The three are convicted in a dowry-harassment case filed by Lakshmi Devi, who had married Abhinaya's elder brother Srinivas. The case was filed in 2002 against Srinivas, his parents and siblings.
The three accused live in Chandra Layout and Vijaynagar, and have been missing since January 8 this year, police said. Besides Abhinaya, the lookout notice mentions the names of her mother R Jayamma and brother R Cheluvaraju. Abhinaya's father Ramakrishna and brother Srinivas, who too were convicted in the same case, died last year, police said.
Last December, the Karnataka high court upheld the 2010 order of the lower court convicting all five persons in the dowry-harassment case. Abhinaya and others were sentenced to undergo two years of simple imprisonment. When the verdict was appealed against, a fast-track court acquitted all five in 2012. This was successfully challenged in the HC by Lakshmi Devi.
