BANGALORE: The Lokayukta police have filed a chargesheet running into thousands of pages against former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and his son Katta Jagadish, a corporator, in the multi-crore ITASCA software-KIADB land scam. All the accused have been summoned to appear in the designated Lokayukta court on July 19.
The chargesheet contains 25,000 documents and has 50,000-odd pages framing charges against the father-son duo, Lokayukta police said.
“It all depends on the special court whether an arrest warrant will be issued or not. There’s a chance that the arrest can be made before the charges are framed because of the seriousness of the provisions of Indian Penal Code and prevention of corruption act,” said a source.
The Lokayukta court had also issued warrants against real estate agents Jaggaiah and Venkaiah, known to be close to the Kattas and who are said to be absconding. The main allegation against them was that they have acted as agents of the Kattas and forced the farmers to sell their lands in favour of the ITASCA.
The Kattas have been charged under various provisions of the IPC like fraud, bribery, forgery, criminal intimidation, in addition to provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Along with the father-son duo, S V Srinivas, MD of ITASCA software; former KIADB special land acquisition officer T P Muninarayanappa; BBMP councillor M Gopi and Bandikodigehalli gram panchayat member B K Manju have also been named accused among others.
