Karnataka women were in dominant form on the opening day of the Senior Swimming Championships at the Gachibowli swimming pool in Hyderabad on Sunday. The state swimmers claimed three of the 10 gold medals on offer on the day.
Lineysha AK and Nina Venkatesh clocked the best Indian time in the 200m breaststroke and 50m butterfly events respectively. Lineysha, who trains at the Global Swim Centre, came home in 2:37.35 to slice more than two seconds off the previous mark of 2:39.38 she set in Guwahati last year.
Meanwhile, Dolphin Aquatics’ Nina touched the pad in 27.74 seconds in the 50 metres butterfly event to eclipse Divya Satija’s 2019 mark of 28.33.

George Mathew and Aneesh S Gowda claimed the top honours in the 4x200 metres freestyle relay event.
