Leftists don’t know their origins: Union minister Anantkumar Hegde

Union minister Anantkumar Hegde

on Sunday took a veiled swipe at alleged “urban naxals”, saying that

leftist intellectuals

have no knowledge of their own origin.

Hegde was speaking at an event here. “These leftists don’t have any knowledge about themselves. They know nothing. They don’t even know where they come from.” His statements come in the wake of several left-leaning intellectuals being picked up in a slew of nationwide arrests.

Hegde once again took potshots at the Congress, saying that “one person decided to sign off on the partition of the nation to become the prime minister”.

The minister also claimed that his statements were not meant to please his voter base. “Some people claim that I speak to please my voters, and that if I don’t speak like this, people will not vote for me. Who wants such putgosi votes? Who wants votes from people who don’t know their origins?” he questioned.
