Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Bangalore, hosted the 26th National Youth Parliament competition orientation course at Kendriya Vidyalaya Hebbal on April 17 and 18. Assistant Commissioners, five principals and five teachers from Bangalore, Chennai, Ernakulam, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bhopal regions participated. They were exposed to the functioning of the Parliament in a democracy.
They in turn will guide, train and enrich the students for Youth Parliament Competitions in their respective regions.
Dinesh Kumar, additional commissioner, (academics) KVS New Delhi was the chief guest. He stated that teachers should facilitate students to undertake research and come up with original ideas which will boost their confidence. Deputy commissioner, KVS (BGR), Isampal, delivered the welcome note and emphasised on the significance of Youth Parliament competitions.
Under secretary in the ministry of parliamentary affairs P Choubey delivered the keynote address and briefed the gathering about the legislative business, Question Hour proceedings and the importance of Zero Hour. Assistant commissioners, KVS (BGR) M.Rajeswari, K L Nagaraju, and Gangadharaiah were among others present.
Of Fairylands, and traditional dance forms Air Force School, Hebbal, held its annual exhibition and celebrated the Annual Day for the primary and secondary wings over two days recently. Air Vice Marshal MK Malik, VSM, SOA, Training Command, IAF, was the chief guest for the primary school's 'Fairytopia'. The cultural programme showcased a fairyland. The penultimate show "Cinderella" took the audience to a beautiful world surrounded by angels. Students also presented their exhibits and proficiency prizes were given to those who excelled in studies and in other activities.
The secondary wing programme based on Kalavrishti was aimed at creating awareness about traditional dance forms of India. Air Marshal Rajinder Singh AVSM VM,AOC-in-C, Training Command, IAF, was the chief guest. Proficiency prizes were given to CBSE toppers by AFWWA (R) president Jyothi Singh.
Achievement in games Students from Acts Secondary School took part in the Herbalife School Games organised by Bangalore School Sports Foundation. Robinson and Afnan of Class VIII, and Hemanth from Class VII won the bronze in the 4X100m relay. Indra Dhanush won gold and Deepak of Class X won silver in the 200m track event. Physical education instructors Munegowda and Lazar trained the children. Twenty schools competed in the games.
