Karnataka notifies 28% GST on online gaming

BENGALURU: The Karnataka government on Friday promulgated an ordinance notifying 28% GST on online gaming, which involves real money, casinos and racecourses.

The ordinance was signed and gazetted by governor Thawar Chand Gehlot.

Companies running these trades were paying 18% on the commission they earned.

The Centre is expected to roll out 28% GST on online gaming from October 1.

According to commercial taxes department commissioner C Shikha, the decision is expected to rake in Rs 1,500 crore in revenue for the state through the SGST route.
