K’taka cuts red tape, fast-tracks 2k projects in 4yrs
Bengaluru: Emphasising gains in ease-of-doing business, Karnataka govt has approved 2,028 investment projects worth Rs 5.1 lakh crore since 2022, with faster clearances and reduced delays, industries minister MB Patil said Saturday.The projects are expected to generate 7.1 lakh jobs. Of this, Rs 69,564 crore has been realised, creating over 1 lakh jobs, indicating a section of the cleared investments has moved to execution. "Karnataka has fast-tracked approvals and cuts red tape drastically to create a healthier environment for investors," Patil said in a post on X.He said quicker approvals are now reflecting on the ground. "Clear results of our govt's push to speed up approval processes are now evident. Not only have investment agreements been secured, but effective implementation is also underway," he claimed.The minister said a sustained focus on ease-of-doing business is helping improve investor confidence and attract fresh investments.Patil said 18 key approvals have been overhauled. Land-use clearance time has been reduced from 120 days to 45 days, while fire NOC approvals have been cut from 60 days to 21 days. Factory plan approvals now take 14 days instead of 30, and electrical approvals are issued within 10 days. "We have overhauled key approvals… aligning departments and districts for on-ground delivery," Patil said.He added that the state is focusing on quicker decisions and fewer procedural hurdles to strengthen a pro-industry ecosystem and ensure that approved projects translate into investments and jobs.Officials added the govt has aligned departments and districts to ensure faster processing and execution.
