KPL match fixing: CCB names 16 accused in 3 chargesheets
Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch filed three preliminary chargesheets in the Karnataka Premiere League (KPL) match-fixing and betting scam against 16 persons, including players, team owners and bookies.
In the FIR registered with Cubbon Park police, Belagavi Panthers and Ballari Tuskers owners Ali Ashfaq Thara and Arvind Reddy, Karnataka State Cricket Association managing committee member Sudhindra Shinde, former Karnataka cricketer CM Gautam, cricketer Abrar Kazi and bookie Maavi have been named as accused.

In the case registered at Bharathinagar police station, cricketer Nishant Singh Shekawat, bowling coach Vinu Prasad, cricketer M Vishwanathan, Arvind Reddy and Chandigarh bookie Manoj Kumar alias Monty are the accused.
The CCB chargesheet at JP Nagar police station names celebrity drummer Bhavesh Bafna, international bookie Sayyam and local bookies Jatin Sait, Kiran and Harish Kumar as accused.
Joint commissioner of police (crime) Sandeep Patil said, “We’ve collected evidence to show how bookies lured players to place bets.”
The chargesheets provide details about the places where players were lured, including the parties hosted by team owners, meetings held at an apartment in Domlur and signs used to get across messages to players to act according to bookies’ directions. Investigation is still in progress and additional chargesheets will be filed in the coming days, officials added.
