Knee replacement surgery in Mysore now

mysore: for the first time in the city, total knee replacement surgery will be conducted at the k.r. hospital on september 1 by a team of orthopaedicians from chennai. dr l.yoganarasimhachar, head of the department, orthopaedics at the k.r. hospital said recently, a team led by dr rajashekar would conduct the operation. he told reporters, dr rajashekar would be assisted by two other orthopaedics dr suryanarayanan and dr venkat of ganga hospital, chennai.the replacement will be made with the indian made prosthesis which costs rs 25,000 (at a special rate). the operation would be a demonstration as it would form part of an arthopaedics workshop being organised here by k.r. hospital, he added. news of knee operation hit the frontline with prime minister a.b. vajpayee undergoing a high-tech operation at the breach candy hospital twice in mumbai. this was emaluted at the bowring hospital in bangalore recently with prof ramesh conducting the operation on a patient from the city.
