Key is to remain calm during exams: JEE topper
Bengaluru: Amogh Agrawal, with a 100 percentile in the JEE (Mains) session 1 held in Jan-Feb 2024, was surprised to find his name among the toppers.Son of software company co-founder Salil and homemaker Avantika, the HSR Layout resident secured a score of 290 on 300. “I prepared from the beginning of the year and wrote about 40 mocks facilitated by the school,” said Amogh, a student of Narayana CO School in Kaveri Bhavan, HSR Layout. He had found the papers moderate. “Maths was lengthy, while physics and chemistry were alright.”His sleep schedule and study hours were flexible and depended on his maximum capacity. “I studied however much I could, without taking additional burden and taking sufficient rest. There was no tab on that,” he said. Between his preparations, he made time to play at the local ground with friends, but avoided screen time.“The key to answering the exam questions is remaining calm. One must try to chill and not study much in the last 12 hours before the exam — that helps avoid getting pressured. It maintains a calm mind,” said Amogh, who plans on writing session 2 as well later this year. Although he hasn’t decided on the institute where he’ll take up engineering, Amogh feels aligned to computer science as a subject and plans to pursue it. JEE (Mains)-1 had 11,70,048 candidates in attendance, and Amogh was among the 23 aspirants who secured a 100 percentile score across the country.
