Kerala police arrest drug peddler in Bengaluru, seize MDMA pills

Bengaluru: The trend of police teams from neighbouring states raiding hideouts of alleged drug peddlers and busting narcotics rackets in the city and other places in the state continues.This time, Kerala police raided a house in Mylasandra, Electronics City, seized MDMA pills worth over Rs 1 crore and arrested Diresh Kutum, a native of Assam. Working as a food-delivery agent, Kutum transported drugs from Assam and Kerala through Bengaluru, an investigating officer said. Police recovered around 12 Cerelac packs in which the accused had concealed drugs.
According to a senior officer, Kerala police arrested Kutum's eight associates in Malappuram last week on charges of drug peddling. There, cops seized 1kg of MDMA. Based on their statements that Kutum had supplied the drugs to them, a police team landed in Bengaluru."Taking help from local police, Kutum's house was raided and MDMA seized," the investigating officer said.When asked why there was an increase in police from neighbouring states raiding places like Bengaluru and Mysuru and arresting drug peddlers, a senior IPS officer said, "Karnataka police also raid and arrest peddlers in other states. These raids and arrests are made based on credible information. It does not mean that our network is weak, but yes, there is an increase in drug trade all over."
