Renukacharya, known to be close to deputy CM B S Yediyurappa, told The Times of India: "Former Honnali MLA D G Shantanagouda from Congress is behind this. He has persuaded that woman to say such things against me. I have submitted my resignation as Keonics chairman and as MLA to my party state president D V Sadananda Gowda and Yediyurappa as I want to facilitate an impartial inquiry into the matter. I will do whatever they wish me to do."
Gowda said he'd hold discussions with Renukacharya on Saturday. "If allegations hold water,we will send notices to him and take serious note of the matter."
In her complaint, the woman identified as Jayalakshmi accused the MLA of threatening to kill her if she did not marry him.
"The MLA wanted to become director of a trust managing a nursing college on Bannerghatta road. Since other directors objected to it, I told him it was not possible. At this juncture, he pulled out a revolver and threatened to kill me in March at my house,"Jayalakshmi, who is the secretary of the trust, has stated in the complaint.
