tendered his resignation on Friday to chief minister
Basavaraj Bommai amid the row over the alleged suicide of contractor Santosh Patil.
Minister for rural development KS Eshwarappa who was in thick of storm over a contractor’s suicide resigned from the state cabinet.
An emotional Eshwarappa in a press conference Thursday evening announced his decision to resign thereby becoming the first minister in Bommai’s ministry to quit.
The announcement comes a day after Eshwarappa was named in the FIR registered in connection with the death of Santosh K Patil, who had accused the former of corruption.
Addressing the press meet in Shivamogga, Eshwarappa said, “I have served as the rural development and panchayat raj minister in the Karnataka government. I have taken a decision today to resign from my ministerial position.”
