BENGALURU: In continuation of the enforcement drive the Karnataka Transport Department headed by Narendra Holkar, joint commissioner for transport (Bengaluru urban and rural) and the team of enforcement staff conducted checking for vehicles such as stage carriages, contract carriages, maxi cabs etc for violating permit conditions and operating illegally, running parallel to Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (
KSRTC) on Tuesday at Gorguntepalya, Peenya, Hebbal Ring Road, Magadi Road and Majestic.
Many of these buses with AITOB Permits were found carrying goods and buses with Stage carriage Permits were operating without payment of tax, without fitness certificates and other permit violations. While checking the the drivers left the buses in the middle of the road and fled the scene causing hardship to the commuters and alternative transport arrangements were made with the help of BMTC Staff. About 100 such vehicles were seized. The seized vehicles were sent to Majestic and Hebbal BMTC Bus Depots and also Basaveshwara Bus Stand at Peenya.
