BENGALURU: Barely two days into his stint as minister for water resources,
Ramesh Jarkiholi shunted
out additional chief secretary
Rakesh Singh
on Thursday.
Singh is perceived to be close to former water resources minister
DK Shivakumar of the Congress, with whom Jarkiholi has a running feud.
Shivakumar was at the helm of the department for about four years.
Singh has now been posted as new additional chief secretary at the urban development department (UDD), whose portfolio is vested with another new minister Byrathi Basavaraj.
Singh’s transfer comes at a time when the state is battling river water disputes in the Supreme Court and tribunal hearings pending.
The government also transferred EV Ramanna Reddy from urban development to IT-BT.
Reddy has also been given additional charge of women and child welfare department.
