Bangalore news live: Urban district reports 4,384 new Covid-19 cases, 19 deaths

The Karnataka government on Friday turned the heat on striking state road transport corporation employees, declaring their three-day-old strike ‘illegal’ and slamming the door on negotiations or pay revision. With Karnataka reporting a single-day spike of around 8,000 Covid positive cases on Friday, the government announced it will sternly implement 10pm-5am curfew, which will start from Saturday, in Bengaluru and seven other cities across the state. Covid-19: Karnataka logs 6,955 infections, 36 deaths

Karnataka on Saturday saw 6,955 fresh Covid-19 cases - a dip in the number of new cases by a thousand compared to the previous day's 7,955, according to the health department. Even the number of deaths declined. It was 36 today as against 46 on Friday. (PTI)

Karnataka government on Saturday made it clear that it would not hold back any examination or stop academic activities due to Covid-19. Deputy chief minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, who holds the higher education portfolio, said the academic activities for the year 2021-22 have already been delayed and there should not be further delay.
