NEW DELHI: The Karnataka high court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of actor Darshan's bail application until October 28.
The hearing took place today before a single-judge bench led by Justice Vishwajit Shetty.
BV Nagesh, the lawyer representing actor Darshan, has appealed to the high court for bail on medical grounds, citing that the actor is currently undergoing treatment.
Nagesh emphasized the urgency of granting bail due to Darshan's need for immediate surgery. In response, the judge instructed the lawyer to submit the medical reports and scheduled the next hearing for October 28.
Darshan recently approached the Karnataka high court for bail after his plea was denied by the trial court.
He is named in the chargesheet related to the Renukaswamy case, involving the murder of a 33-year-old resident of Chitradurga, whose remains were found in Bengaluru's Kamakshipalya on June 9.
On October 18, Vijayalakshmi, Darshan's wife, along with other family members, visited him at Ballary jail.
This visit followed the rejection of Darshan and Pavithra Gowda's bail pleas by a civil court in Bengaluru on October 14. Both are implicated in the Renukaswamy murder case, while another accused, Deepak, was granted bail by the civil court.
The 57th magistrate court in Bengaluru had previously adjourned Darshan's bail hearing until September 27.
Meanwhile, Gowda's hearing was also postponed until September 25.
The proceedings began concerning the bail applications of Darshan Thoogudeepa, Gowda, and 11 other individuals implicated in the Renukaswamy murder case.
