Karnataka: DK Shivakumar to land in Bengaluru on Saturday, fans plan grand reception

BENGALURU: Three days after he was released from Tihar jail, senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar will come to Bengaluru on Saturday afternoon. He will arrive here at 2.30pm.Youth Congress workers, members of Vokkaliga community, his fans and well wishers have decided to give him a grand welcome at the airport. A campaign is being carried out on social media asking Shivakumar’s fans to gather in large number at the airport.According to a Congress leader closed to Shivakumar, the former minister will be brought to KPCC office from Bengaluru airport in an open jeep. There will also be a bike rally by youth Congress workers, he added.It is also being said that efforts are being made to bring Shivakumar’s fans from Kanakapura, Ramanagara, Magadi, Channapatna.Am not rapist or murdererContinuing his thanksgiving spree, Shivakumar met senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday. Both leaders met at D K Suresh’s residence.When asked about cases against him, Shivakumar told reporters that neither he has raped or murdered anyone. "Some people tried to paint me as thief, looter and what not. But my people know what I am. I have not been involved in any illegal activities," he said.On his stay in jail, Shivakumar said it is a long story and he would speak about it at an appropriate time. He also refused to talk about politics. “I am suffering from back pain and I need to take treatment. I am not going to speak anything about state politics," he added.He also thanked Congress leaders, fans and his well wishers for standing with him during his bad time. "There is nothing special in people whom I had helped supporting me but thousands of people came on road for me and prayed for me. I am indebted to them and I thank them," he added.
