Bengaluru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah's son Rakesh is being treated in a hospital in Belgium following a suspected pancreas ailment.
On a European junket with four friends, Rakesh was hospitalized after he complained of severe stomach pain in Antwerp. Rakesh celebrated his 39th birthday recently.
Siddaramaiah reached out to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj for help to ensure Rakesh gets the best treatment, the CM's office said.
He was to leave for Belgium early Thursday to visit his son. Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi, their younger son Yathindra and a Bengaluru doctor have already left for the Belgian capital.
At a news conference, Siddaramaiah refused to give details of Rakesh's illness.
