Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai to enrol for organ donation

BENGALURU: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, health minister K Sudhakar and others will enrol to donate their organs on World Organ Donation Day on Saturday. Sudhakar said the fact that the CM has decided to enrol for the drive should inspire people to register.

He said that for every 10 lakh deaths, only 0.08 people donate organs, compared to 40 people in Spain. He said social and religious taboos are getting in the way

“This year, World Organ Donation Day coincides with 75th year of Independence celebrations. People should celebrate Amrit Mahotsava by making a pledge to donate organs and become amrutha (eternal),” he said.
