BENGALURU: The dawn to dusk Karnataka bandh over the Cauvery water release issue also impacted the court proceedings in Bengaluru city with majority of advocates staying away from courts in support of the call given by the Bengaluru Advocates Association.

The proceedings in the lower courts-civil court, magistrate court and small causes court was seriously affected. Many of the advocates also held procession march from the civil court to town hall.

In the Karnataka high court, only a handful of advocates attended the court, that too before the judges dealing with criminal petitions (bail and quashing of proceedings).

The proceedings in the Chief Justice’s court got over in less than 15 minutes as majority of the 39 cases were adjourned for want of advocates.

The Chief Justice also indicated that he had assured the members of

Advocates Association of Bengaluru

that only those cases where advocates on both the sides are present will be taken up.
