BENGALURU: State Congress president DK Shivakumar, on Tuesday, said the party high command wants his brother DK Suresh, also Bengaluru Rural MP, to be fielded from Ramanagara constituency in the assembly polls.
“I got a message from the high command that he [Suresh] should be fielded. I have not discussed it yet with local leaders, Suresh or our workers,” Shivakumar said, while insisting that he did not propose his brother’s name.

Karnataka Exit PollsIf Suresh, the only Congress Lok Sabha member from Karnataka, is fielded from Ramanagara, he will take on Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, of JD(S). Ramanagara is the home district of the DK brothers, while it is home turf for the Gowda family.
Anitha, Kumaraswamy’s wife, currently represents Ramanagara, winning a bypoll in November 2018. She was the joint candidate of the JD(S)-Congress coalition. Shivakumar and Suresh had extensively campaigned for Anitha in that election
