Having amassed 559 in their first essay, the hosts had the opposition on the mat on the third day with Mumbai being precariously placed at 30/1 in their second innings when stumps were drawn.

The visitors didn’t enjoy a good run in the first innings as well as they depended on their middle and lower-order batsmen to shore up their total to 250 after resuming the day at 34/3. With a day to go, Mumbai still have a deficit of 279 runs.
Earlier, opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi's vigil at the crease in Mumbai’s first innings was ended by pacer Dhanush Gowda (4/37). Harsha Salunkhe (36) and Nutan (85) then defied the Karnataka bowlers with their 85-run stand for the fifth wicket. Once Manan Bhatt (56) was adjudged leg before off Dhanush, the other batters did not last long, with Aaditya Nair (2/49) claiming the last two wickets off consecutive deliveries. Spinner Mohsin Khan claimed two wickets.
