Karnataka Administrative Service officer to face criminal action
Bengaluru: Karnataka govt Monday initiated disciplinary and criminal action against KAS officer Apoorva Bidari — currently serving as assistant commissioner of Bengaluru South subdivision — on charges of issuing erroneous judgments while hearing quasi-judicial cases relating to land disputes. In a directive issued by the regional commissioner, Bengaluru division, the deputy commissioner of Bengaluru Urban was directed to file an FIR against Apoorva under BNS Section 257 (public servants corruptly or maliciously making false reports, orders, verdicts or decisions in judicial proceedings) and under Section 35 of Karnataka Land Revenue Act 1964. According to the regional commissioner's findings, Apoorva passed erroneous orders in 53 quasi-judicial cases pertaining to land disputes. The motive behind such orders is being ascertained.
