Karanth theatre festival from tomorrow

'Bandaano bandaa savaara: B V Karantha,' a national theatre festival on the 80th birth anniversary of theatreperson B V Karanth, will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra and Ranga Shankara from Sept 15 to 20.

BANGALORE: `Bandaano bandaa savaara: B V Karantha,' a national theatre festival on the 80th birth anniversary of theatreperson B V Karanth, will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra and Ranga Shankara from September 15 to 20.
Timings: At Ravnidra Kalakshetra: `Gokula Nirgamana' (Sept 15), `Mayabazar' (Telugu, Sept 16), `Karanthara Rangageethegalu,' (Sept 17), `Maha Nirvan' (Sept 18) and `Ras, Raag, Rang Kaa Rushi,' (Sept 19).

Theatre group Benaka will sing `Rangageethegalu' on September 19.
Talks will be held on `B V Karanth and theatre' at Kalakshetra lounge on September 16-19 by K Marulasiddappa, Jayant Kaikini, Chiranjiv Singh and Lingadevaru Halemane.
Ranga Shankara will host `Raas, Raag, Rand ka Rushi' (Sept 18), plays `Maha Nirvan,'(Sept 19) and Girish Karnad's `Hayavadana' (Sept 20) at 7.30 pm. Besides, U R Ananthamurthy, B Suresha and K V Akshara will give lectures on Sept 20 (2.30 pm onwards).
According to Vittalamurthy, there will also be release of books and CDs on Karanth and a Karanth photo exhibition during the festival.
Girish Karnad will inaugurate the festival on September 15 at 6.15 pm.
