has been receiving “hafta” (commission) on a regular basis from illegal clubs and dance bars in
Gandhinagar, his assembly constituency in Bengaluru.
“He has no right to comment on my principles,” Sudhakar said. “Everybody knows he has a deep nexus with mafias in Bengaluru and he collects hafta from illegal dance bars and clubs in Gandhinagar.”
Sudhakar accused Gundurao of protecting these “illegal bars and clubs”. He said Congress has been bankrupt of ideas ever since Gundurao became president of the state unit and accused Gundurao of neglecting interests of party workers and even failing to protect interests of party legislators.
Responding to the allegations, Gundurao said they were baseless and that it was Sudhakar who is the betrayer. “I don’t think there is any need to respond to his allegations,” Gundurao said. “People very well know he is a betrayer of the party and the principles he stands for. The people of Chikkaballapura will teach him a fitting lesson.”
