JD(S) minister slams Sumalatha over 'political ambitions'
BENGALURU: A day after JD(S) minister criticised Sumalatha for deciding to contest from Mandya Lok Sabha seat against chief minister H D Kumaraswamy's son Nikhil, PWD minister H D Revanna on Friday made a derogatory comment on Sumalatha.
"It's been not even a month since her husband is dead, she is already nursing political ambition and wanting to contest election," Revanna told reporters when asked about Sumalatha's contest.

Sumalatha's decision has left the entire JD(S) rank and file fuming and they have been after her for the past few days. As per the seat sharing pact, the seat is reserved for the JD(S) and it has prepared to field Nikhil. On the other hand, Sumalatha is in no mood to relent and she has already announced that she would even contest as an independent if the Congress did not give her ticket and she won't go back on her decision. The BJP is said to be eager to support Sumalatha.
Realising that Sumalatha's presence in the fray will make it difficult for Nikhil, the JD(S) leaders including Kumaraswamy have been making a personal attack on her in an effort to demoralize her.
While Kumaraswamjy questioned the contribution of Ambarish to Mandya, transport minister Thammanna criticised Sumalatha of not offering even water and tea to the poeple of Mandya when Ambarish was alive. He also called upon people not to believe film starts.
Besides questioning the timing of the entry into politics, Revanna said that the adamant stand of Sumalatha forced the party to field Nikhil. "We were planning to field one of our workers from Mandya. But when she insisted on her contest we changed the plan and decided to push Nikhil into the fray," he added.
