Deve Gowdas meeting with AICC president Sonia Gandhi.
Speaking to The Times of India over telephone from New Delhi, Gowda said: Sonias political secretary Ahmed Patel and AICC general secretary Margaret Alva met me. They will fix a time for me with Sonia. They have read what all has appeared in the media. Meanwhile, sources said the show of strength at the Hubli convention ruled out a rapprochement between Gowda and Siddaramaiah.

action against him is being planned, they added. Also on the cards is removal of ministers H.C. Mahadevappa and Satish R. Jharkiholi, who attended the convention. The changes will be made under the garb of dropping ministers to accommodate new faces as the JD(S) has exhausted its quota of 17 ministers. The JDSLP has to be convened by Siddaramaiah in his capacity as the leader, but the party president can also do so.

It is learnt Gowda has discussed the issue with some senior partymen. With Gowda being identified as the Vokkaligas leader and Siddaramaiah getting the tag of champion of backward classes, dalits and minorities, the JD(S) wants to woo the Lingayats and Prakash fits the bill.
Gowda proposes to discuss this strategy with Sonia. However, the Congress high command reportedly is not keen on meddling in the JDS internal affairs. Sonia may prefer to meet Karnataka Congress MP to get their views on the issue before giving audience to Gowda, sources said.
Siddaramaiah, who is out of action for the next two days, following a ligament tear on Legislators Day, has decided to watch the developments.
