Jain women clinch silver

Bengaluru: Jain University women settled for the silver medal, losing to University of Delhi 0-2 in the badminton final at the Khelo India University Games in Lucknow on Friday.
Janani Ananthakumar went down to Likhita Srivastava 18-21, 10-21 before Drithi Yatheesh and Trisha Hegde showed promise by winning the first game but eventually lost to Deepshikha Singh and Kavya Gupta 21-15, 15-21, 8-21 in 52 minutes. The other match between Trisha and Deepshikha was not played.
Jain University men’s team won the bronze medal, defeating SRM University 3-2 in the playoffs, thanks to the efforts of its doubles teams. Pruthvi K Roy played a stellar role, winning his singles and doubles ties before Saif Ali and Sayooj Ajayakumar prevailed in straight games in the decider. Maharishi Dayanand University defeated top seeds Savitribai Phule Pune University 3-2 to clinch the gold medal.
