Man who steals laptops, mobile phones from cars held
Bengaluru: A 35-year-old interstate miscreant, who stole laptops and mobile phones from cars, was arrested by Jayanagar police recently. The arrested, Sadha Naidu, along with his elder brother, Yallappa Naidu, came to Bengaluru on a bike. They targeted cars parked on the roadside and in the parking lots of commercial establishments. They would break window glass using a tool to steal. After committing at least four to five offences, they would go back to their hometown Salem. The duo was part of a gang, known for breaking four-wheelers' window glass and stealing only electronic gadgets. Police are searching for Yallappa.Police nabbed Sadha in Salem while investigating a case registered on Aug 31. The victim had parked his car in front of a coffee shop in Jayanagar, and upon returning, found someone had broken his car's window glass and stolen a laptop bag. Sadha had kept the stolen laptops in his mother's house in Dadagapatty, Salem. The police served a notice to his mother, asking her to bring the laptops. She brought about 17 laptops on Sept 24. Sadha confessed to stealing laptops from across the city. Police were able to trace the owners of six laptops from the five cases registered at Jayanagar police station, and efforts are underway to trace the owners of the other laptops.
The recovered laptops are worth around Rs 12 lakh. He was arrested for the first time by city police. Sadha and his brother were earlier arrested by TN police. The bike, used to commute to the city, was also seized. Sadha confessed that he and his brother stole only laptops and mobile phones. They sent the stolen valuables to Delhi and Hyderabad's grey market, where they were sold at cheaper prices.
