Interim order on Bidari's plea extended

A division bench headed by Justice K L Manjunath extended till Friday the April 28 interim order restraining the authorities from publishing the selection list with regards to new DGP of the state or appointing anybody to the post.

BANGALORE: A division bench headed by Justice K L Manjunath extended till Friday the April 28 interim order restraining the authorities from publishing the selection list with regards to new DGP of the state or appointing anybody to the post.
The court directed the counsels for UPSC and central government to recieve notices as it was informed that notices issued last month were not yet served.

Former city police commissioner Shankar Bidari had challenged the April 21 order of Central Administrative Tribunal. The CAT had asked the state government to send to the UPSC by May 1 the names of those officers who are working in the DGP rank post in the pay scale of Rs 75,500-80,000 for empanelling them for selection to DG& IG post.
In turn, the UPSC was directed to prepare final selection list of the officers' list sent by state government by May 20 and send the same to the Karnataka government on or before May 25. The state government was to select the next DG&IG of the state before June 1, 2011.
