Infant dies in ESI hospital
BANGALORE: Koushalya Lankesh didn't bathe her four-and-a-half-month-old son on Wednesday as the child appeared feverish. As the infant was too small for tablets or an injection, she and her husband, car driver Lankesh Byregowda, took him to ESI Hospital, Rajajinagar, around 4.30pm.
Doctors diagnosed the child with pneumonia. "We spent a horrible night.

An older child can say what he or she is feeling. They can ask for water. But my child lay motionless on bed," said Lankesh, the night playing out before his eyes continuously.
The infant, who was yet to be named, developed uneasiness on Thursday morning and died soon after doctors put him on ventilator.
"I'm not blaming the doctors at ESI for killing my son. But I strongly feel they should've paid more attention to my son. Here, the staff is limited and only on Thursday morning did the doctors tell us the child's chances of survival are low," Lankesh said of his first-born.
The infant breathed his last around 10am. "Initially, we refused to shift the body. Hearing the news, Rajajinagar police also dropped in, asking whether we would like to file a police complaint. But whatever we do, our son won't return now. So we decided against filing the complaint," Lankesh told TOI.
Lankesh works as a driver for a private company at Hosakerehalli, while Koushalya works at Disha Garments on Mysore Road. Lankesh, from Nagamangala taluk in Mandya, married Koushalya in 2011. They stay in Bangarappa Layout, Rajarajeshwarinagar, off Mysore Road.

Hospital authorities said they haven't received any complaint of neglect from the parents.
