Indo-Swedish literary meet from Feb. 2

BANGALORE: Swedish ambassador to India, Inga Eriksson-Fogh, will inaugurate a three-day conference on literary translation in Bangalore on February 2.
Writers, translators and publishers will attend the three-day conference— ''Sambandh: Relating Distant Worlds''—at the National Institute of Advanced Studies.
The participants will discuss Indian and Swedish literature and the translation of books between distant cultures and languages at the conference which is being organised by the Indo-Swedish Translation Project.
Indian litterateurs U.R. Ananthamurthy, K. Satchidanandan, Anita Agnihotri and Jayant Kaikini will take part in the meet. Swedish participants include Agneta Pleijel, Stewe Claeson and Lars Andersson, Arne Johnsson and Esa Ericsdotter.
The Indo-Swedish Translation Project was established as a result of a cultural exchange programme in 1996-97 between the Swedish Writers'' Union and the Sahitya Akademi. The aim of the project, which has been financially supported by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, is to facilitate quality literary translations between Swedish and Indian languages.
