HUBLI: Seers of various mutts have urged the state government to enforce the law banning cow-slaughter. Addressing the "Trishul Deeksha" rally, organised by Shri Ram Sena and Rastriya Hindu Sena at Moorusavirmath grounds in Hubli on Sunday, the seers said Hindu organisations were forced to launch a cow protection movement as the government agencies had failed to do its job.
Swami Dayanand, president, Praani Daya Sangha of Bangalore, said Hindu organisations would form cow protection brigades and prevent cow slaughter. He said the Karnataka government had banned the cow-slaughter by legislation and urged the law enforcing agencies to "just enforce" the law. Pramod Mutalik, president, Rastriya Hindu Sena, said the "Trishul Deeksha" was not against any particular community. The convention aimed at creating confidence in the youth and inspire them to fight corruption, terrorism and conversion. Siddhalinga Swami of Andola, Swami Bhattaraka, Gurusiddha Rajayogeendra Swami of Moorusavirmath, Himani Savarkar, KP Mukta, Gururaj Hoskoti, Shivakumar Talawai and Ravi Shidling also spoke. Tension prevailed for a short while as the police tried to prevent distribution of "trishuls" by some Hindu Sena workers. However, tight security prevented any untoward incidents.
