BENGALURU: The Indian Institute of Science on Wednesday said it launched a £100,000 (around Rs 1 crore) programme for joint research projects in areas including combustion, manufacturing, design and energy, in partnership with Brunel University, London.

The Brunel-IISc international collaboration programme was announced during Brunel’s vice-chancellor and president Prof Andrew Jones’ visit to the IISc campus in Bengaluru. “...This is in support of the universities’ aim to build a long-term research and educational collaboration.

Prof Jones and other senior administrators from Brunel visited IISc and interacted with faculty members. A signed certificate was exchanged between the two institutions to mark the programme's launch,” IISc said.

The funding, it said, will support a number of short, exploratory joint ‘seed’ research projects running until the end of July 2023, with the expectation of larger, externally funded collaborative research in future.
