Sumanth Bhat, a gold medallist in MTech in embedded systems, said he's interested in research and development and that after gaining some work experience he'd want to have his own startup. "Through my startup, I want to develop solutions like smart-parking system, especially for a city like Bengaluru where lack of parking space is a perennial problem," said Sumanth.

As many as 164 students got their degrees on Sunday, of which two got their Ph.D, 11 Master of Science and 154 MTech degrees; six students from different streams secured gold medals.

Kritika Rashi, another gold medallist in MTech (IT) said after completing her under-graduation she worked in a private company for one-and-a-half years. Kritika studied MTech as she is interested in getting into teaching profession. "Now, I have been placed with a private company as a data scientist. However, after a few years, I plan to have my own startup which will work towards providing education to the underprivileged," said Kritika.

Encouraging the students, Naveen Tewari, founder and CEO of InMobi and the chief guest for the occasion, said to be successful one has to fail. "You will fail a lot in life. To be successful you have to fail. My family wanted me to become a professor, but I couldn't. I set up three startups and they failed. To establish InMobi, I had 40 meetings to raise funds, but all of them failed. Today, my company is successful."
