BANGALORE: Ever since he took over the reins of the state, chief minister
B S Yeddyurappa has had to tackle crisis after crisis. The latest one to hit him: state
BJP president KS Eshwarappa complaining to the party bosses in New Delhi against him.
In the wake of Eshwarappa’s petition, the central leadership on Thursday summoned Yeddyurappa to New Delhi to seek an explanation.
On Wednesday, Yeddyurappa was in news when former CM H D Kumaraswamy alleged his son BY Raghavendra’s educational institution had received a Rs 27-crore donation from land developers.
Putting a brave front, Yeddyurappa told reporters in New Delhi on the eve of the World Kannada Meet happening in Belgaum: “No leader has sought any explanation from me and no leader will.’’
Sources said the party leaders had taken serious note of Eshwarappa’s charges and asked Yeddyurappa to take all leaders into confidence on vital decisions. Eshwarappa, who was in New Delhi on Wednesday, told the bosses the CM has not convened core committee meetings and is ignoring suggestions made by the party. He is biased, Eshwarappa said, towards one community. Eshwarappa said Yeddyurappa should be more democratic to ensure the survival of his government. After meeting BJP president Nitin Gadkari, Yeddyurappa said he has no differences with Eshwarappa.
