Tonight’s the night that revellers have been waiting for. The biggest party night of the year is here, and as you get set to bid adieu to 2016 and welcome a new year, there are some things that never seem to change during a party, especially the one that is set to take place tonight. Here’s a list of the kind of people you are most likely to encounter tonight…

The drunk
No matter what time you enter the party — be it bang at 8 pm or closer to midnight — this one person will be in high spirits.At no point during the party will you see his/her hand without a glass of alcohol in it. This person can be quite entertaining, but only from afar.

The one who hits on everyone
Men and women go out looking their best at New Year’s Eve parties, so there are bound to be a bevy of beauties at any do in town. And trailing them will be that one man who seems to hit on anything that moves.

The guy that thinks beer is champagne
… And pours it on everyone. This is likely to being at midnight and will continue until each and every person in the party is drenched in beer. Having watched one too many films, this guy routinely shakes the beer bottle and sprays the froth all around him.
The one who can’t hold their drink
Sometimes, the excitement just gets to you, and in the spirit of the party, some people tend to go overboard with the spirits — even though this could only be one drink! Every party has that one or two people who just can’t hold their drink and need to hold on to everyone else around for support.

The dancer
Be it Kala Chashma or Cheap Thrills, this person knows the signature steps to all the songs. As long as there is music playing, this person is sure to be on the dance floor, and that too with full energy — a real DJ’s delight.
The non-mover
In sharp contrast to the dancer is the guy who manages to stand still at the same point throughout the night. He is the observer, who prefers to stand-by and watch all the action unfold, rather than be a part of it.

Bar-top dancers
Not to be confused with bar dancers, these are the spirited ladies — and sometimes men, as well — who, after an hour or two into the party, shift the dance floor onto the bar, and show you how to move.
The selfie kings and queens
This is a night to remember, no doubt. But some people take this rather seriously and ensure that not even a single moment is forgotten. How? By taking a selfie, of course.

The one who takes on the bouncers
Young blood — or sometimes even old — can result in some people thinking that they have the right to act in any manner they choose, since they shelled out a good sum to enter the party. This usually results in a scuffle with bouncers, who have low tolerance for bad behaviour.

The one who passes out on the bathroom floor
Visiting the loo during at a club on a heavy party night is a Catch-22 situation — it’s usually messy, but all the brews you’ve been guzzling down force you to visit the john every now and then. And this is where you will find that one staple guy/girl who is spends most of the night passed out on the bathroom floor.
