BANGALORE: Home minister R Ashoka seems to be god for this corporator.
A H Basavaraju, elected from Banashankari Temple ward recently, took oath in Ashoka’s name on Friday in the presence of the mayor and other BJP corporators.
Basavaraju had earlier contested from Ganesh Mandir ward but lost. He won from Banashankari which fell vacant in January 2011 following the murder of rowdy sheeter Diwan Ali. Ashoka, who represents Padmanabhanagar, was keen on Basavaraju’s victory because the ward falls under his constituency.
