Bengaluru: Karnataka’s teenage talent Hashika Ramachandra continued with her sizzling form in the swimming competition at the National Games in Rajkot on Friday. The 14-year-old, who trains at Dolphin Aquatics, bagged two gold medals on Day 6 of the competition and added more sparkle by winning one in record time.
In the tightly contested 400m freestyle event, Hashika came home in 4:32.50 to obliterate Aakanksha Vora's mark of 4:32.50.

The Bengaluru swimmer was quick off the blocks and led at the 100m mark. Although she let up slightly in the second 100 metres, she made up after the halfway mark and did not look back.
The 200m medley event turned out to be a contest between two Karnataka youngsters with Hashika (2:26.23) outpacing state-mate Manavi Varma (2:27.13), who settled for silver. Hashika took her medals tally to six gold and a bronze. Fancied Srihari Nataraj too continued with his record-breaking performance, clinching the 50m backstroke event in a record time of 25.65 seconds. He rewrote the record twice in a day, having broken it in the heats (25.88 sec). The Karnataka quartet of Sambhavv R, Rujula S, Nina Venkatesh and Srihari Nataraj added another gold, winning the 4x100 metres mixed freestyle relay.
KARNATAKA EXIT
The state women’s hockey team crashed out of the event on Friday. In the last-8 clash, lost 0-6 to Haryana.
BENGAL SCORE
In men’s football, the high-flying Karnataka football team lost to West Bengal 1-3. It was Karnataka’s first defeat in the tournament after winning their previous matches against hosts Gujarat and Punjab. Karnataka took the lead in the 63rd minute but conceded three goals including two in injury time.
