BANGALORE: The Global Lakshminarayana Music festival will be held here on February 5 in commemoration of the eponymous artiste.
Announcing this at a press conference in Bangalore on Tuesday, violinist L. Subramaniam broached the schedule of the festival and the itinerary.
The fest which started in 1992 in memory of Subramaniam''s father, the late Lakshminarayana, is now in its fourteenth year.
This year it features musicians like the Norwegian violinist Arve Tellefsen along with the Oslo Chamber Orchestra in tandem with Kavita Krishnamurthi and Subramaniam himself. Says Subramaniam, "Tellefsen was in India to perform at the 50th year celebrations of Indian Independence. This year happens to be the 100th year of Norwegian Independence and he''s performing here."
He says the performance will include short solos featuring original compositions. The fest starts at Hyderabad on February 4, followed by Bangalore on February 5 (at Ambedkar Bhavan at 6.30 pm) and at New Delhi on the February 10 which President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is expected to inaugurate. Entry to the fest is open to all and passes would be available at the venue.
