BANGALORE: With the nightlife hours having been extended, the buzz is back in Bangalore's party circuit. While pubs and restaurants are staging musical gigs to keep revelers hooked, event management companies are roping in popular artistes from across the globe to pump up the jam.
After the famed Joel Zimmerman, aka Deadmau5, Moscow's Swanky Tunes and the Australian Electro/Dance group Vandalism performed in the city recently.
The Deadmau5 show at the Supernova Arena attracted more than 10,000 music lovers despite the ticket price ranging from Rs 2,700 to Rs 5,000. It is learnt the presenters of the event paid a king's ransom to get the five-time Grammy nominee on board. Though a tad disappointed with the attendance, the organizers, Precept, were satisfied with the response to the big-ticket event.
Satya Narayan from the event management company Blue & White said music buffs and party animals are going all out to paint the town red. The nightlife extension has put Bangalore on a par with other metros.
"It is exam time and event companies don't want to take big risks right now. But taking into account that good gigs are drawing crowds, most event companies are planning to rope in big names in the music world during the holiday season," said Satya Narayan.
Sak Noel, nominated for the best urban song at the Latin Grammys two years ago, will perform at the Ezone Club on April 5. Electronic Dance Music buffs are looking forward to rocking at this party. After hosting Vandalism, The Lalith Ashok has invited Andrew Royal to perform on March 23.
"It costs nothing less than Rs 10 lakh to fly in a popular music group from England or Europe. But the fact that most promoters and sponsors are happy conducting successful gigs proves that party lovers are back," said Satya Narayan.
Their next addition to the party circuit is the Danish sensation Sandro Silva, who will play in the city next month.
