BANGALORE: The city police on Thursday arrested a four member gang in connection with a theft case reported from KR Puram branch of Syndicate Bank. Rs 10 lakh was stolen from the bank on Tuesday.T h e gang, headed by 60-year-old Lakshmamma, was nabbed in Malur town (Kolar district) on Thursday night when they were sharing the booty. A few male members of the gang ran away from the scene on seeing the police.
Rs 6.2 lakh has been recovered from them.
It is a 40 member Malur-based gang operating in the city and other parts of the state and they operate mainly near banks and commercial areas.They divert the attention of the people carrying cash and then loot them, the police said.On Tuesday, when a financier, Bhuvanendra Reddy, went to Syndicate Bank in KR Puram, these women lifted Rs 10 lakh belonging to Reddy from the counter.
