BENGALURU: Three members of a gang walked into a panipuri vendor's residence in Kurubarahalli, near Rajajinagar, late on Thursday night and allegedly hacked him to death while he was eating.
Narasimhamurthy, the vendor, is survived by his five-year-old son, who was sleeping during the incident, and wife Anitha. According to police, the assailants entered the house after 10.30pm and sprayed a chemical into Anitha's eyes rendering her unconscious, before attacking Narasimhamurthy, 28, with knives and choppers.
Anitha, who woke up early on Friday, found blood stains on the floor and raised an alarm. Narasimhamurthy's body was found wrapped in a polythene bag under the cot a few minutes later.
Anitha told police she found the house locked from outside after she regained consciousness. The body was discovered with the help of neighbours, who also alerted police. Anitha told cops she can identify one of the three assailants. Police, who have procured CCTV footage from the area, are questioning neighbours.
The body was handed over to the family and police said that they will question Anitha again after the funeral and use the services of a sketch artist.
