BENGALURU: A financial dispute between friends ended in the murder of a 28-year-old milkman from Devannanapalya, Madanayakanahalli, Bengaluru Rural district.
Five months ago, V Manjunath, the milkman, had given a loan of Rs 25,000 to his friend L Santosh, an agriculturist. Santosh failed to repay the instalments and attacked
Manjunath when the latter asked about it.
During the fight, Santosh allegedly rammed his bike into Manjunath, who was shifted to Nimhans with head injuries and died on Sunday.
“On February 10 night, Manjunath met Santosh near a petrol bunk in Devannanapalya and asked for the money. Santosh refused and attacked my son who fell down. Santosh rammed his bike into my son, injuring him in the head and neck. The next morning, he fell down from his bed and lost consciousness. We shifted him to a nearby hospital where doctors said Manjunath sustained severe internal injuries on his head. He was taken to Nimhans, where doctors operated on him but he succumbed,” Manjunath’s father Venkatachalaiah said in his complaint.
Santosh was earlier booked for attempt to murder. “We’ll now convert it into a case of IPC section 302 (murder). Santosh is yet to be arrested,” police said.
