Asia's biggest air show has also become a good meeting point for friends, families and even neighbours. It was hard to miss this trio from Sanjaynagar seated on a bench - B V Mohan Rao, 75, was at Aero India for the first time with wife Revathi, and their neighbour,
Harjinder Singh, 66. On a normal day, they would have preferred staying home, but Harjinder planned a good time out for them.
Despite their age and the traffic, the three managed to reach the venue 10 minutes before the show started. "There should be better communication and venue directions for people like us, we would have made it even earlier," complained Revathi, trying hard to shield herself from the blazing heat.
They were tired and almost burnt, sitting under the hot sun, but the excitement of the metal birds flying above kept them engrossed. "I have never been to an air show before. I am glad our neighbour planned this treat for us. We had a great time together,'' an elated Mohan said.
Thursday's morning air display had many children squinting into the sky. Some were playing hookey from school, like Mihir H N, 12, who was attending the show with his mother and neighbourhood friends from Chamarajpet. With his pair of binoculars, he was enjoying every move of the many flights and their stunts in the sky. His close pal, Shashank B R, 7, had also taken the day off from school. "Nadee (move), the show will start soon,'' he cried when his mother stopped to check a stall at the venue.
Not far, Amogh S K, 3, was also enjoying the show with his father. He laughed aloud with excitement, but refused to remove his hands off his ears throughout the show. As the thundering Tejas came in, the little one was startled but began to sit back and enjoy.
