Bengaluru: Flyover to be named after 19th century military chief Sangolli Rayanna

BENGALURU: The

flyover

at Anand Rao Circle, near Majestic, will be named after

Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna

, the 19th century military chief who fought against British. The flyover connects

West Bengaluru

with central business district.


Chief minister BS Yediyurappa made this announcement on the occasion of Rayanna’s 189th death anniversary on Sunday.

He made this announcement after garlanding Rayanna’s statue near Majestic.

Leader of the opposition and Congress leader Siddaramaiah demanded the CM release funds kept aside for the development of Rayanna’s birth place Sangolli and Nandagad where he died (both in

Belagavi district

).
