BENGALURU: A city civil court on Friday awarded life imprisonment to five men and handed over two minor boys to the juvenile justice home after holding them guilty of hacking a 29-year-old man to death on November 16, 2009.

Girish, Rajesh,
Lakshman Gowda and Kumar alias Bandli, all in their late 20s and residents of JC Nagar, Kurubarahalli, were convicted. The court also fined them Rs 25,000.
Police had filed the chargesheet accusing the suspects of hacking
Sandeep Kumar, a mechanic, to death outside a bar near JC Nagar.
“Sandeep and prime convict Tejas were rivals. On the pretext of hosting a cultural event, Tejas would demand money from Sandeep and the latter would refuse. They had frequent fights,” police said.
